ATPL is a part of the Alliance Tire group (ATG), an entity having significant presence in the global ‘Off-The-Road’ (OTR) tires business. ATG was established in 2007 by private equity firm, Warburg Pincus and Mr. Yogesh Mahansaria, (former CEO of Balkrishna Tyres) after they acquired Alliance Tire Company Israel (Alliance Israel) in 2007. Founded in Israel in 1950, ATG manufactures off-highway tires that are used in agricultural, forestry, construction and earth-moving equipment.
It has three brands – Alliance, Galaxy and Primex. ATG has a 61,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) plant in India in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Tirunelveli, India (ie, ATPL) that is in the process of being expanded to 85,000 tpa and 35,000 tpa plant near Hadera, Israel. ATPL is also carrying out Greenfield expansion for total capacity 54,000 tpa at Dahej, Gujarat, India. ATPL has installed capacity of 73,500 tpa as on June 30, 2014 in Tirunelveli.
