Hyundai to expand Irungattukotai plant capacity by 50000 units

Hyundai Motors is planning to increase its capacity of its Irrungattukotai plant by debottlenecking and modernization programme. The move will increase capacity by 50,000 units. The company plans to launch 9 new models, which includes a electric powered sedan and a sports utility vehicles (SUV). However, the charging kits for the vehicles are likely to be imported from Korea. The company expects to become a one million car maker by the year 2020. Currently, the company is producing 6.6 lakh units per year.
