Maruti Suzuki has launched Ciaz with a new diesel engine option of 1500 cc. The new engine is developed in-house and branded as DDiS 225 to signify its peak torque output. The turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine makes 95hp at 4,000rpm and 225Nm of peak torque at 1,500-2,500rpm, which marks a 5hp and 25Nm jump over the outgoing 1.3-litre engine.
The Maruti Ciaz has a rated fuel economy of 26.82kpl, which will make it the most fuel efficient car in the segment. The new engine is BS-VI-ready and will be upgraded to meet the more stringent norms at a later date.
The Maruti Ciaz diesel is priced at ₹ 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base Delta variant.
