Ola is setting up a mega electric vehicles factory in Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The company is investing over ₹24,000 million towards the manufacturing facility which will have a capacity of 20 lakh units annually and will serve as a global hub. The company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government in December 2020 and completed land acquisition in January 2021.
As of March 2021, the company has acquired 500 acres of land. The factory will be powered by Ola’s own Artificial Intelligence engine and tech stack. About 5,000 robots and automated-guided vehicles will aid in the production at the factory.
