About the Company :
Daimler made its first entry into India in 1950. In 1954, in collaboration with an Indian partner Tata Motors, Daimler introduced India to the first heavy-duty truck, the ‘TATA Mercedes-Benz’. The genes of trucking were well sowed and have remained at the heart of Indian trucking, ever since.
The company has its manufacturing plant in Oragadam near Chennai and produce Bharat Benz, Mercedes Benz and Fuso Trucks here. Now, Daimler India operates as a 100% subsidiary of Daimler based from Stuttgart.
In July 2017, the company is adding one more product – under Fuso brand. The truck would be 6.5 tonne to 8.6-tonne range and will be exported. It may be noted, the company exported 4500 units in 2016.
