Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has allowed registration of electric vehicles without pre-fitted batteries. The rules are modified in a such a way that with appropriate certificate from testing agency an electric car can be sold without battery (regular battery or swappable battery). The union ministry has modified the Rule 126 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The move will provide a spur to the electric vehicle eco system with new innovations and financing.
