Incorporated in 1961 as Gaskets and Oilseals Limited, now known as Banco Products India Ltd is a leading manufacturer of radiators, intercoolers, oil – coolers and various types of engine gaskets. The company supplies its products to both automotive and non-automotive industries. Within the automotive segment, the company supplies to commercial vehicle and passenger cars segment. The company also supplies radiators to certain non-automotive applications including agricultural and forestry equipment, locomotives, diesel engines for power generation, construction equipment and wind turbines. BPIL has a technical collaboration with Japan Metal Gasket, Japan for manufacture of gaskets with the latter holding a 3.1% stake in the company.
In the domestic market, BPIL is positioned as the second largest manufacturer of radiators and gaskets for the automotive industry. The company enjoys strong share of business with leading OEMs including Tata Motors Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Maruti Suzuki (I) Limited, Bajaj Auto Limited and Hero MotoCorp Limited.
In 2009 -10, BPIL acquired 100% stake in a Netherlands’ based company–NRF for a consideration of Euro 17.7 million. The acquisition strengthens BPIL’s presence in the radiators segment in the European market besides giving access to new technologies and design capabilities and potential opportunity to backward integrate operations in India.
