About the Company :
Pricol Ltd, incorporated in 1972 as Premier Instruments Coimbatore Limited, the company was promoted by a group of Coimbatore based industrialists. Renamed Premier Instruments & Controls Limited in 1983 and Pricol Limited in 2004, the company which started as a manufacturer of dashboard instruments/instrument clusters has over the years diversified into a light engineering company manufacturing a range of other products like speedometer cables, oil pumps, disc brakes, sensors, industrial gauges, vehicle security systems etc.
Pricol’s main technology partner Denso Corporation, Japan also holds 12.5% stake in the Company. Apart from technology transfer from Denso Corporation, the company has periodically entered into other technological agreements with global majors like Nippon Seiki Co. Ltd., Japan and M/s. Kojima Press Ind. Co. Ltd., Japan for other products.
Operating out of six factories; two in Coimbatore, one in Gurgaon, two facilities in Pantnagar and one facility in Indonesia (under a subsidiary), Pricol is one of the largest manufacturer of Instrument clusters (IC) and oil pumps in the country and supplies to all major automotive OEMs.
In March 2012, the Company hived – off its plant in Pune into a joint venture with Johnson Controls Enterprises UK Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnson Controls Inc, USA).
In July 2017, the company has acquired Ashok Piramal Group’s PMP Auto Components. The transaction will be funded by a combination of internal accruals and external debt. The company has also signed up a licensing agreement with US-based Kerdea Technologies for making oxygen (O2) sensor.
In November 2017, Pricol Ltd has entered into a joint venture agreement with Zorg Industries (Hong Kong) Ltd for manufacture, supply and sale of parking assistance systems for India. In this venture, Pricol will have 60% stake. The JV plans ₹6.5 crore investment for an initial production capacity of one million units.
In March 2018, the company has received the coveted ARAI certification for telematics devices. The ARAI certification for the telematics devices comes under AIS 140 regulation which is in line with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH). The regulation is aimed at introducing intelligent transport system in India, required for making roads safer.
In September 2018, the company is planning to expand its production facilities by setting up a greenfield plant in Hosur in Tamil Nadu, SriCity near Chennai in Andhra Pradesh.
